Why wax in the first place?
The age-old question: Waxing vs shaving and using depilatory creams. Both those methods only remove hair at skin level, so your regrowth will prickly, uncomfortable and within a day or two it will be the same as it was before. Where as waxing removes the hairs from the root – no stubble and your skin is silky smooth! With waxing you will not have cuts and nicks that often come with shaving, and creams can burn sensitive areas. Also, with regular waxing your new hair will become finer and grow slower! It is very important to avoid shaving or creams between waxing appointments. As this will stimulate the hair growth again.

What areas on the body can be waxed?
Most areas on the body can be waxed, as long as the hair will allow. Such as the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, arms, back, chest, stomach, legs, bikini area, and the genital area.

What’s the best way to prepare for a waxing appointment?
Be sure you have at least a 1/4 inch (6 mm) of hair growth, 1/2 inch (12 mm) for course hair. That is about a week to 2 weeks of hair growth after shaving. Exfoliating with a loofah or exfoliating glove the day before waxing is suggested for less pain at the appointment. If it’s your first time please let us know and we will walk you through every step at the appointment.

What should you expect after I have been waxed?
Hairless skin! Everyone’s skin reacts differently to waxing, typically you can expect to have temporary redness and minor irritation for a day or two. Try to avoid heavy exercise that will increase perspiration and chaffing for about 24-48 hours after waxing.

How long does waxing take?
This depends on the part of the body getting wax, and how much hair is present. A brow wax may take 10-15 minutes whereas a full body wax may take several hours.

Will waxing hurt?
The pain associated with waxing differs from person to person and their genetic makeup. One person may have several nerve endings in one area, while another may not. If you have a sensitive skin, remember that any pain is very minor and very temporary. The more often you get waxed the easier it becomes. If pain is a concern, 1 hour before your appointment take an over the counter pain relief and follow the instructions on the pack.

How often should you get waxed?
Regular waxing is essential. For many that is every 4-6 weeks. The skin will be less sensitive and the hair becomes finer if waxing is done every four weeks.

What is Male Brazilian wax?
Male Brazilian waxing is also known as manzilian, manscaping, commando or a back sack and crack wax and is very popular among males of all ages. First of all, you should know that I do not judge your body. I have years of experience and have seen it all, so you have no need to feel self-conscious or embarrassed, my only concern is to give you the best wax possible. A Brazilian wax for men is a standard procedure nowadays and includes hair removal from the pubic bone, penis shaft, scrotum, perineum, and anal region. Yes, someone is going to be touching your penis and your testicles, so know going in that there's going to be someone down there navigating around your private areas. A common question and concern is will I get hard, yes some males do especially the first treatment, but let me reassure you that it will pass pretty quickly as soon as the waxing begins! Does that help?

How long will the results last?
Again, this depends on the person and their genes. But usually waxing lasts from 4 to 8 weeks. Which is much longer than shaving which may only last up to a day.

How do I prevent ingrown hair after waxing?
Using tea tree oil or an antibacterial wash after waxing. Three days after your wax exfoliate with either a natural loofa or exfoliating glove then moisturise. Continue exfoliating and moisturising until then day before your next wax. If you are prone to ingrown hairs use a cream exfoliant as well as your loofa or glove.

Will the hair grow back thicker?
This is actually a myth. The hair grows back much slower, finer, and more scarce than before. If you wax often enough, the hair will barely be in the area.

Are there any health precautions?
Yes! According to the Body Dynamic, “Some physicians do not recommend waxing for those with diabetes or who have varicose veins or poor circulation as they are more susceptible to infection. Waxing is never done on clients taking Accutane and is not recommended for clients using Retin A, Renova, Differin or other types of skin thinning acne medications. Please read the label carefully and consult your dermatologist if you are taking any medication or using any topical cream that contains these medications. Individuals do react differently to these medications and sometimes waxing can be done if proper patch testing is completed.
